Sovereign Signs “began the creative development of a new body of work that re-codes everyday signage – such as those used for traffic control – into critical markers of Aboriginal sovereignty.” Libby’s use of mud from North and South Stradbroke Island and Tallebudgera creek, and witches hats  “draws on the ongoing Aboriginal connection to country and the manipulative tactics used by the colonisers when making accounts of Aboriginal Civilisation, particularly in regards to devaluing and misrepresenting the way Aboriginal people used signs to communicate within country.”
